Sarah Ameen Ruffin, NP earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 2012 and her Master's Degree in Nursing in 2018, both from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is credentialed by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as an adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner. Before starting at James River Cardiology, Sarah worked as a certified registered nurse at VCU Health System. She worked on the cardiothoracic/vascular surgery progressive care unit taking care of surgical patients post coronary artery bypass grafts (CABG), valve repairs, and a variety of thoracic and vascular procedures. Sarah gained proficiency in caring for patients after arrhythmia procedures, AICD and pacemaker placements, and cardiac catheterizations. Her unit was a specialty unit for patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension, advanced heart failure including patients with LVADs, and heart transplant recipients. Sarah joined James River Cardiology in April 2019. Professionally, she enjoys focusing on complex cardiac conditions and educating patients about cardiac conditions. She values nutrition and health promotion in the cardiac patient. She sees patients at both the hospitals and clinic. Her privileges include Southside Regional Medical Center and Chippenham Medical Center.
