Sarah Sherman, NP

Sarah Sherman has been a Nurse Practitioner since 2008. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia. She then completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University and became a board certified Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).

Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Sarah was a nurse in the Medical Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (MRICU) at VCU Health System. During her four years as a critical care nurse, Sarah received her certification in critical care. She served as a charge nurse, researcher and mentor. She also represented the MRICU on the Medicine Professional Practice Council.

Once she received her Master’s degree, Sarah transitioned to the role of Nurse Practitioner in the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at VCU Health System. She specialized in acute and chronic pancreatitis and worked under Dr. Bimaljit Sandhu.  (Dr. Sandhu joined our practice in 2013.)

After living abroad in France for a year, Sarah received her Nursing registration in the United Kingdom. She worked as a Nurse Practitioner in London at St. Mark’s Hospital and Academic Institute specializing in intestinal and colorectal disorders. She is a member of the St. Mark’s Association and the Royal College of Nursing.

Sarah returned home and joined our practice in September 2014.  She and our physicians work closely together to deliver the best care for patients.  She sees inpatients at Johnston-Willis Hospital as well as outpatients at our Midlothian Center office.

Sarah was born and raised in Virginia. She met her husband while studying abroad in Australia, and together they have enjoyed traveling, working, and living abroad. They enjoy snowboarding, hiking, wine tasting and spending time with their daughter.
