About

Dr. Cameron specializes in assisting adult clients at the intersection of physical and mental health. She understands that making healthy life changes can be very difficult, even when it’s what a person wants most. With a holistic, person-centered approach, Dr. Cameron appreciates each person's strengths as they work together collaboratively to make the most of life in the midst of life-changing medical conditions such as heart diseases, diabetes, chronic pain, chronic diseases, and weight loss goals, among many other health concerns presenting in primary care and other medical settings. Dr. Cameron began her studies with an interest in the bi-directional influence of the mind and body. She earned her Ph.D. in the Medical (Clinical) Psychology Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2008, including completion of her internship at the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry at the West Virginia University School of Medicine in Charleston. She then completed her post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2009. All education and training programs were accredited by the American Psychological Association. Dr. Cameron worked in Primary Care at the McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center from 2009 to 2014, transferring to Mental Health from 2014 to 2018 to provide specialty services via telehealth to women veterans with histories of chronic pain and trauma. While continuing at the VA, she began seeing clients at LifeStance Health in 2015. Dr. Cameron joined the Center for Behavioral Medicine and Neuropsychology full-time in 2018 as the co-director of behavioral health integration.
